Biofarma Group, the European leader in the development and production for third parties of food supplements, medical devices, and cosmetics, with a particular focus on the probiotics segment – controlled by Ardian and the Scarpa family – announces the appointment of Gianfranco Nazzi as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Born in Udine, Gianfranco Nazzi has over 20 years of international experience in several leading multinational companies in the pharmaceutical sector, where he held several managerial positions of great responsibility. Prior to joining Biofarma, Mr. Nazzi served as CEO of Almirall, a leading international pharma company focused on dermatology. Before that, he covered roles of increasing responsibility at Teva, in which he served as Executive Vice President of the International Markets Region and as a member of the Executive Committee. Previously, he also held a series of senior managerial positions in other large multinational pharmaceutical companies such as AstraZeneca, GSK, and Eli Lilly, in various geographical areas including Italy, the United Kingdom, Serbia, and the United States.
In his new role, Gianfranco Nazzi, thanks to his extensive managerial experience and deep expertise in commercial, R&D, and manufacturing, will lead the Group with the aim to continue its organic and inorganic growth path, focusing on internationalization and on the development of new products and innovative technologies for its clients.

Gianfranco Nazzi replaces as CEO Maurizio Castorina, who will keep the role of Director in the Board of Directors of Biofarma and, thanks to his great experience, will continue to accompany and support the group in its important future challenges.
